Here's a better view. They passed the 500 mile test, still tight.

Does the Volt have active grille shutters ahead of the radiator for the gas engine?

If not, you could do a partial or even full lower grille block, depending on cooling location/requirements of the electronics.

WindyDrew: I mistakenly thought you were new to the forum. (It was the low post count.)

Then I looked at your join date. You're an old-timer around here.

No active shutters that I know of. Just a fake upper grill. I'm not sure how much I could block of the lower grill but I doubt the 13 kw I normally require on a flat road builds much heat. I use maybe 50kw of the 110 kw available so I could probably block the entire lower after summer cools off next month. Maybe I'll try it soon just to see what happens when it gets too hot. Then I would know what to look for when modding

Does the volt have overheat protection built into its electronics? If it does not, any grill blocking could get real expensive.

There's no way that a car as advanced as the Volt won't warn me before it gets too hot. It is an electric car after all.

Thumbs up Grill block.

I'm also a recent Volt convert...

IIRC, the grill block is shuttered and automatically opens to cool the electronics, battery cooling or ICE radiator as needed. I've never seen mine open... So far I haven't burned a drop of gas.

Subscribed.
