cycle ignition, would like to make a kill switch but time and motivation are lacking.

Just thought I would put this info out for anyone else with one of these trucks. You can do a power steering delete by getting a idler pulley and bracket from 2010+ fusions Milan's escapes etc with 2.5 duratec motors. The block is physically the same so the idler bolts right up in place of the power steering pump. I got mine from a local junkyard. I'm hoping to be able to see some gains soon. Thanks for the good info, let me know how the install goes(maybe pictures) and be sure to track any gains you have. I am working on my best ever tank right now 43ish mpg so far. I did get a new job and my new commute is only 7.5 miles each way, but traffic makes my mpg less predictable. I am also saving gas by biking for errands and to work, 30 miles in the last week.

I know my ranger is a '94 but im hoping i can take some of your mods and apply it to mine...but none the less great job you have given me inspiration that my ranger is not a hopeless case in mpg's cant wait to see more

Looks like the truck liked to get out and stretch its legs on the Interstate. Looks like Jan2016 fill was 28.29mpg, was it the axle swap or the short commute? Looks like a slow taper off on FE is the motor unhappy, pluged cat, spark plugs got my life time best non airo or with the cap first run @55mph for a full run @27.7 in a 3/4 ton dodge. 8/100 mi p&g+55 is a huge boost.

If the short 7mi route is the killer in your mpg ,then grab the paddles and give it som grid juce. Add block heaters or 2, trans , dif and oil pan.

Sad to say but The Long Ranger has been sold and replaced. The short commute and cheaper gas prices brought the need for serious eco-driving down, hence the 27-30 mpg average.

Now driving a 2008 Civic SI, which is tons of fun to drive! I do wish that 6th gear was a little longer but I didn't buy this one for economy
