Ok so I got the OBDuino working with the ELM, but only when it connects to CANBUS. When I connect it to my Civic ISO, It just shows the OBD command "0C" for RPM "0D" for SPEED, and so on..... Any ideas??? Like I said, ELM via CANBUS = perfect!!! ELM via ISO = No Bueno!!! Any ideas would be AWESOME!

IIRC you have to remove the ATSH command.

For ISO remove the ATSH6810F1 in the code

My Dx ELM327 and Arduino shoud arrive in few weeks, and I'm not sure which way to go: MPGuino or OBDuino. It turns out my car '98 Opel Astra G does send injector pulse width over diagnostic connector (KWP2000/ISO14230), so I don't know whether I sould go around engine bay tapping speed sensor and injector pulse wires, or just use ELM327 and OBDuino.

First solution is obviously cheaper, but I'm not sure which is better.

If you can get good speed sensor & injector pulse signals, then MPGuino will be better for MPG purposes. But then you don't get the other OBD data & functions.

If you already bought the ELM, then OBDuino is currently your cheaper solution, no?

ELM is for my friend, so I'll get to try it out first, and if it doesn't work I'll pass it on to him. I'm building MPGino solely for MPG purposes, I'm not interested in other functions.

I wouldn't even consider building OBDuino, but I passionately hate modifying and cutting original wiring loom of a car, especially on my own car. That's why I'm considering more complicated and more expensive way that is OBDuino.

Hello.
I have a simple task to achieve, I guess, but I'm stuck. All I need to do is to read the Speed of the vehicle using data from the obd2 k-line pin, and then to send a command to blink the brake lights when a certain decrease in speed is detected (e.g. more than 2km/h/s). I can not initialize the k-line and I am not able to read anything on the serial monitor on arduino . The vehicle is an 2004 BMW E60, uses ISO_14230_fast but I guess this is not an issue.

So, all I need Is some help from someone to extract from the code only the part for init sequence for ISO_14230_fast and sone way to read the speed on the serial monitor.

Cheap ELM devices may or may not work depending on source. There are a lot of chinese ripoffs in the market
