SGII backlight not working?

I just got my ScanGauge in the mail today and I quickly hooked it up and began calibrating, but as day turned to night, I noticed that the backlight wasn't on.

I went to the lamp setting and tried turning it on high and low and changing the color, but nothing changed. I've tried it while the key was in "on" "acc" and "off" Otherwise, the device is working fine.

The troubleshooting tips said that if nothing shows on the screen and backlight is off, you should replace the fuse. This is pretty obvious, but either way, the normal display is working fine. Could it be that the backlight is on a different circuit somehow? or is my SG just defective?

Is there some trick to getting it to work?

good luck. I got my scan gauge 4 months ago and it stopped working the in the last couple days. I am going to try it again tomorrow and then send it back for repair/replacement. I have grown to really like the thing though, I don't like driving without it.
