I read your post again and noticed the part about a lighter EV. I would rather do that. Besides, I looked on Craigslist and found golf carts but not a snowmobile to be found -LOL.

The CVT would require custom fitting to adapt the motor. The golf cart motor needs an adapter plate on the drive end for the second bearing, they are made to bolt to the GC axle, where the second bearing is located normally. The GC axle is geared for slow speed with short tires, so to get city or highway speeds, modifications are required. But the motors and controllers are relatively cheap.
