Not before doing some calculation to figure out the best overlap. And that works easier for engines with VVT at both intake and exhaust, such as the Mazda SkyActiv-D.

When the engine is cold. Does it help to heat up the common fuel pressure rail with an 12V 500W silicone heater? So the diesel is hotter when injected? Or instead of the common rail, the metal fuel line from the rail to the injector?

Why not heating the tank instead (like it's done in some heavy trucks)?

Because it is easyer and les energy heavy to heat up 0,05l of diesel and a total of only 2,5l for the longest rout i need to drive (home-work). Then heating up 70l. All powerd by the alternator.

I'm still not so sure about the safety of heating the high-pressure rail. Where else could you fit that heater?

Anyway, what are the factory-fitted cold start aids into your car? Just the glowplugs? What do you think about a grid heater?

Perhaps run a heart exchanger on the exhaust?
