What would it take for the U.S. to enter a recession?

My sister complained about standalone emergency rooms that people somehow thought were urgent care clinics despite saying "Emergency Room" everywhere.

I do not have any idea what the E.R. charges, I have only been to the one at the V.A. for myself. The nearest urgent care charged $74 a visit, but was bought by a huge hospital chain that raised prices to $150.

The nurse practitioner wrote my prescription on a paper towel because they didn't provide prescription pads, either.

I went through my history and could not find the source that I used for state population. It looks like I used the same one that I used for my coronavirus calculations, but the numbers were way off, so I do not have any idea where I got those figures.

This is what the hospital billed for my wife's 4 hour visit to the ER. They did nothing besides do some x-rays and send her home.

Notice that the ER billed $15,898 but the insurance negotiated rate was only $1878. An uninsured person would be stuck with the $16K bill.

Medical list prices are the same as jewelry store list prices. How do you think every jewelry store can have 60% off everything in November and December? By inflating list prices. How can every insurance company get a discount? By inflating list prices.

And the little guy that doesn't have an insurance company is stuck with that list price.

Well the White House said on the 25th that 370,000 tests had been done in the USA. Maybe we did another 400K tests in 6 days.

The raw number isn't that important. What is important in the percentage of the population and that everyone that is suspected can get tested. We aren't there yet.

In that snapshot in time South Korea had tested 0.7% of their population while the USA had tested 0.1% of our population

The gross number of tests performed hopefully isn't connected to the number of people tested. The medical types working with the patients are hopefully getting tested every few days, and someone who tested negative is still suspect until there's a vaccine.

My wife tested a patient a couple weeks ago who ended up returning positive results. She still hasn't been tested and there was debate about sending her home for quarantine for 2 weeks.

Anybody that wants a test can get a test. That’s what the bottom line is.

You heard it from the man. Every one that needs a test can get a test. They are beautiful. They are perfect. Not as perfect as his call with the Ukrainian president but pretty good.
