Start-stop seems like a weak hybrid.

I try to take my time and enjoy life, but it seems like everyone else rides my tail, cuts me off, and idles their car when they aren't even in it.

I cannot imagine they stop to appreciate life or necessarily appreciate it at all.

I tend to take the path less traveled, myself. The fastest route across the mountains to my family is also a hectic multi lane interstate where the drivers are rude, unpredictable, dangerous.
I take a less traveled two lane highway that has a few passing lanes, but for the most part you just settle in at a safe distance and enjoy the ride. When it is snowing heavily, I get behind the milk trucks that cross that pass and know that they will plow the way ahead.
In my impetuous youth I would yearn to pass any truck. Now I get it, they will hit any elk or deer, and those multiple wheels clear out a great deal of the slush and slop right ahead of me, almost as good as the plow truck.

I'm anti start-stop, but I'm pro stop-start.

As I avoid driving in stop and go conditions, it would not noticeably impact my fuel economy.
However I'll need a new battery regardless as mine started failing and I had to jumpstart a few times already.

Generaly speaking, I'd prefer hybridisation for shorter trips as that allows you to not run the ICE at all.
But in the end, the most efficient cat for a trip is no car and the most efficient route is no route.
If something is less than 10 km away, I usualy ride my bike there.
If it's further, I try going by bike+train. (or if the weather is nice and it's less than 20 km away, I might just ride there)

There are bike trains now?!

Sadly no, just lame people and lame things, like... whatever this is:

The tow hitch is neat. This is billed as a Trek Mountain Train Trailer

http://images.junkmail.co.za/images/...e9083804a.jpeg

I'd swear I've seen bicycles in Eugene with two trailers in tandem, but not on a cargo bike like that.

It's a bike thread now?

Volkswagen makes bikes?

Someone posted the bike train and the camping trailer on Imgur today.

They didn't approve of either-- or this:
Quote:
The Uberhood is an aerodynamically designed umbrella (or parasol, if you will) that mounts to your bicycle handlebars and offering protection from sun and rain.

This is the manufacturer's picture of the stowed Uberhood, ready to poke out your eyes:

Combined with this wedgiemaker you would be invincible [against the rain]!

For some reason the website is down but I found this: LeafXPro 2, Revenge of the Wedgiemaker!

For some reason they only reached one-sixth of their fundraising goal!

I went with my friend in Eugene once to pick up his kids. He had one of these. I struggled just as hard to get myself up insanity hill meanwhile he was dragging 2 other humans up it.
