Take the drivetrain out of my RX450h and stuff it into a CT200h. 250Kw in 1200 Kg would be a barrel of monkeys with good economy and AWD. 500Nm of torque off the line would toast most things, including the tyres.

An older rear wheel drive toyota corolla with a 5 speed overdrive manual transmission couples to a laycock de normanville overdrive unit (giving 5 overdrive gears and a double overdrive gear) with a modern toyota yaris engine.

I've been looking into an Ecoboost/T56 swap for my F150. It's already a V6 and 5 speed so maybe the girlfriend wouldn't even notice lol

I want to put a 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva drivetrain into a 1987 or 1988 Cadillac Cimarron. The SOHC 4 cylinder with 4 speed auto could easily do 40 MPG in the Olds.

Would be interesting to see what it could do in the smaller and lighter Cimarron. 2536 and 2889 pounds. whatiscurbweight.com

Why an 87 or 88? Those are the years when it got flush headlamps to slick up the front for better aero and to sort of blend in with the rest of the GM lineup. Aside from that minor facelift, the Cimarron carried on with the 1981 J-Body while the rest of the J cars got the new design.

What gets me is why in 1995 GM discontinued the single cam version of that engine? Was their CAFE *too high*?

For 95 up the Quad Four got demoted from special option to being the base engine and called rather boringly "Twin Cam".

As a glutton for punishment (after adding a 5.0 Ford in a 1980 Volvo)
I consider adding a GM 60* V6 3.5 LM9 (I think)in my boys 66 Volvo.
Another case of more power and better fuel economy at the expensive of countless hours of pulling out ones own hair. LOL

I'd like to swap the six speed from the new Colorado into my truck, then change the rear end to the 3.42 ratio. Then tune the ECU to take advantage of the effect noted in this post: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post508414

I think that would get me to a solid 40 MPG summer average. Add a conveyor belt air dam, make a new cross member at the transmission for better ground clearance, alternator delete with deep cycle battery, and a solar panel.

I'm tempted.

06 Canyon: The vacuum gauge plus wheel covers helped increase summer 2015 mileage to 38.5 MPG, while summer 2016 mileage was 38.6 MPG without the wheel covers. Drove 33,021 miles 2016-2018 at 35.00 MPG.

22 Maverick: Summer 2022 burned 62.74 gallons in 3145.1 miles for 50.1 MPG. Winter 2023-2024 - 2416.7 miles, 58.66 gallons for 41 MPG.
