I needed an economical truck.

About 1200#'s.
Handles great.
Tested to 90 mph.
Rated 1/4 ton.

My foam technique

See photo, spruce 2" x 4" x 5' , gorilla glue. use flat surface of foam
as much as possible as shaping is a lot of work and weight. Cover
with cheese cloth and latex paint, watch out for curbs,...

This modded 88 civic lx into a flatbed mpg up to 40 from 27.
Successfully hauls full sheets of plywood, sofas, washers/dryers,
cement, 10' long poles right up thru the cab.

I cut away all the rear unibody up to the gas tank and strut towers.
Then I added some tubular space frame style reinforcement.
Each rear door weighed 80lbs.

Civic flatbed 40 mpg daily driver

Here is my daily driver truck, 88 civic lx changed to a flatbed.
Weight down by about 500 lbs. Mpg up to 40.
