Didn't see this reply. But the reason why I suggest this is to save yourself the headache and guessing game on what parts will fit. For the 96 model I still suggest you look for an HX model tranny.

Just get the vx tranny or an hx tranny. If you are technically incline to take apart a tranny than change out the final drive with an hx tranny. Truthfully it would be easier to source an hx tranny...
