My first Ranger was a 96, 2.3, 5 speed, that's the one I installed the
exhaust and aired up the tires and got a solid 30 MPG's

You don't need to power the fan to turn it on,...

You don't need to power the fan to turn it on, you can simply ground the fan relay
via a switch in the cabin if you want a manually turn it on and off.
I've added a manual fan switch to a few cars...
