I may be wrong, but I believe the issue is that remote start in this case only turns on the electronics. Without actually putting it into gear, the engine stays off until the hybrid battery drains.

Just off-hand, looking at the angle of the back glass, the spoiler more than likely does reduce drag primarily by reducing lift. I've never seen an analysis of it on that car specifically however.
