1981 Electric Car - $3695 (Poplar Bluff, MO)

Selling low mileage electric car retrofitted from gas to electric by Jet Industries back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. This car has a 400 amp. 96 volt electric motor powered by 16- 6 volt batteries (batteries not included). It also uses one- twelve volt battery to power radio, heater fan, wipers, lights, etc. The heater is gasoline powered with a 3 gallon tank. Price is $3695. Mileage is 8695.

~1/3 the cost of a used leaf (easily more than half the cost after you find some batteries). Half the power, and range and maybe a 1/3 the battery life, 1/10th the features. It is overpriced, unless you own a museum.

I saw it but I don't know anything about electric cars. I knew someone on here would have a better grasp of what was being offered. It is unusual to see an electric vehicle like that in this area. I haven't seen a leaf on the roads and only one Volt rolling around. The Prius is a little more common with the silver haired crowd...surprisingly enough. With such an old retrofit I figured it would be outdated hardware...I guess I was right.
