No- it's dayam far, as in the cost of gas alone would exceed the cost of the car. :/ Probably 2800 miles @ 15mpg = >$500.

I need to ride my electric bicycle out, assemble the car, drive it home with the bike in the back.

If I get the bus I'm trying to get, you'll have a place to sleep out here in the mean time.

How I missed this thread for a year I'll never know, but wow!
Here's where some guy on Youtube had converted his Festiva to diesel
There are also a couple of EV Festivas down here in Florida, but they're more like golf carts. I ended up just sticking with the stock setup with a couple of aero mods (plus P&G) to hit 60 mpg.

I more or less gave up on converting this car over, to be honest. It's still sittin in the yard with wheels on it, but no engine or transmission. If I do still do anything with it, it's either going on a Bronco II frame with a lift, or getting a small utility engine installed for the sake of having a around town type of car that never sees more than 45ish MPH, which isn't really practical where I am, either, and would more than likely never be road legal.

That's too bad. I'd enjoy a 1.9 VW TDi swap. Should be quick and efficient.
