1988 Jeep Cherokee $528-$700

Ok trying to get that trike. I don't really want to give this up but dammit I want that trike.

I have a 1988 Cherokee. its my first car. its my baby.

I am not even going to try and describe the condition. its a BEATER

You can understand all you need to know with this.

497,000 miles. that is not a typo.

Now here is the good news. I put another donor engine in it at 485,000 miles it (engine) only has 120k on the clock. its a virgin I6 those of you familiar with this will know this.

its lifed with old RS9000 shocked blackdiamond 3" suspension lift

The Stock aluminum Jeep rims are mine. 10.5 x 31" tires damned near brand new. ($600 in tires)

you will get stock aluminum jeep rims (clear coat not so nice) with stock size tires.

the scrapper offered me $528 for it. I just could not do it. I LOVE this truck.

if anyone will give me $528 the truck is yours with two requests.

please don't scrap it and if you decide to get rid of it offer it back to me if at all feasible. I can't describe how attached to this truck I am.

it has a lund moon visor and shelf it inside. its got dents no body rust probably some rust under neath (half a million miles remember)

the alternator is going (lights dim if I turn other things on like the blower etc..) so you will need to replace it but it will drive and charge fine for a while

it make some noise "at angle" from the transfer case. I noticed a leak. we probably did not "seal" it right when we put it back together. should be simple fix and refill with fluid.

4x4 engages and disengages properly it does have the select trac option (part time and full time)

give me $700 and you can have the nicer jeep rims with the 31" tires.

drivers window regulator gutted suction cup holds up the window :-)

I really am reluctant to part with it. I LOVE this truck. I spent the time it takes to drive 404,000 miles sitting in the seat of this truck and I drive 50mph everywhere (it had 92k on it when I got it). On E0 I got 24mpg with this truck.

but its rotting away and that is a sin. I really want this to goto someone who will love and use it even if just as a woods truck for fun or on a farm.

these I6 engines are nearly ever lasting if you take care of them. when I yanked the 485k engine out it RAN FINE 100% no issues 24mpg. but it was cheaper to toss in the spare engine and faster than trying to rebuild it.

with E10? yeah my baby hates E10 I have to work hard for 19-20mpg usually 18-19.

let me know if anyone is interested. I can't drive it to you (no insurance) and while its tagged I can risk driving it without insurance but I will drive it onto the dolly and drive it off the dolly if you want me to deliver it (close only)

anything withing say 50 or so miles of 19057 or 08215

Man I got lost just after "I love this truck", but anyone that writes that much about an '88 Cherokee must be sincere. I hope it finds a good home!

I love this truck. the only reason I am even considering getting rid of it is that letting it rot behind my building is almost as bad as scrapping it and the trike is a really good "cause" to let go of the jeep. I am 420 pounds and the weight WILL be the death of me if I don't do something about it.

its my first vehicle. I paid it off $100 a week and I can't even describe to any full extent how much time I spent in this truck.

it was my daily driver for over 15 years 110 miles every day 5 days a week minimum and I off roaded this thing. HAD A BLAST. love the old AMC jeeps. (chrysler did not do nice things to them when they took over 88 was the last of the AMC's)

only jeep I might have liked more was my Grand Wagoneer. the roles royce of jeeps :-)

but I did not have over 400,000 miles in the SJ.

I have about 90lbs to loose and man is this diet making me sad I was seriously craving a cheeseburger and ice cream last night but I weathered the storm and this morning it's a small bowl of whole grain cereal. But yeah I'm thinking 2+ also can't wait!
