Yeah The main reason I taught her any Hypermiling techniques was her propensity for 90mph, and £45 of petrol for 250 miles!

Happily, she's down to about £25 a week now

3500rpm is too damn noisy too!

I'll service it at the weekend and report back on condition prior to modding.

She's on P&G detail this tank!

Heh, the girlfriends car is geting there.

I've started a fuel log for it, and it had a good service at the weekend-now purring happily and pulling better (a 1.2 can be criminal for high load pulses)!

Its also apparently about 60 miles up on usual at this moment- with a bit of luck we may be on for 55mpg+

fingers crossed

that was one of the first things to be fixed:-)

I'm really impressed with it so far-taken the long commute in its stride..apart from rusting its sump through!

320touring; What does the underside of the car look like? does it have potential for improvement? Given its low visual impact it could be a good place to start. If succesful the nerd gene could be coxed into mutating and let you try mods with more visual... who know's?

hi redyaris, thanks for the input

A belly pan would probably be beneficial to this car as the underside is very rough..

Initially though (on both the saab and clio) i'd like to try grill blocks.. Then look at possibly lowering coupled with a belly pan.

Thwre are also plenty of air gaps on the car that could be smoothed

Good news!

2nd tank is in with her P&Ging the hell out it!

561.2 miles on 9.7UK gal is 57.85mpg (thats 561.2 on 11.59 US gal = 48.42 mpg)

she's fairly rocking it, with no aero mods!

I'm gonna have to do well in the Scab to catch up. 31% over quoted figures

Wow! 5l/100km on a petrol? Now there's something even a diesel wouldn't be ashamed of...

What was it about the student becoming better than the teacher?
