2013 NEOSEF results are in!
For those of you who don't know, this was my third year in the regional science fair. In addition to the regular fair awards, there are many organizations that give out private awards so I am listing those as well
in 2010, as an 8th grader, I won 2nd place(in 7th-8th grade category) for running an engine off of hydrogen that I created with an electrolyzer
Other awards included prizes from:
International Society of Automation
American Institute of Chemical Engineers
in 2011, as a 9th grader, I won 2nd place(in 9th-10th grade category) for increasing the MPG of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport by 20% using lean burn
Other awards included prizes from:
Antique Automobile Club of America
Cleveland Clinic - Innovations
International Society of Automation
U.S. Air Force
The Vinarcik Family
Now, in 2013, as an 11th grader, I again won 2nd place(in 11th-12th grade category) for building the aerofocus and my associated studies on aerodynamics.
Other awards included prizes from:
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
American Society of Mechanical Engineers
Yale Science and Engineering Association
Cleveland Clinic - Innovations
U.S. Navy
Case Western Reserve University - Gelfand STEM center
Antique Automobile Club of America
Northeast Ohio Society of Professional Engineers
The Vinarcik Family
Every year, the quality of my projects has been increasing and this year was the closest I've come to grand prize. The girl who beat me did a project on antibacterial nanoparticle coatings for touch screens. I thought her project was pretty good, so I respectfully accepted defeat. Everybody better watch out next year though because I've got a plan to finally get the gold!
The Grand Prize is an all expense paid trip to participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and next year is my last year to get it. Win or lose, it's been a great experience over the years and for anyone raising kids, I highly recommend getting them involved in something like this.
Shout out goes to everyone on the ecomodder forum for being there and answering any questions I may have had
and a special shout out goes to Phil Knox for his indispensable knowledge on aerodynamics
