For 2013 the dates for the Vetter Fuel Economy Challenges are:
5/3/2013 at Carmel CA
7/19/2013 at Lexington OH
10/20/2013 at Las Vegas
A brief history of the Vetter Fuel Economy Contests
The goal is to develop motorcycles that can:
Go 70 mph
Into a 30 mph headwind
With a useful load
In great comfort
(Being the first choice of vehicles in garage)
Consuming the least fuel in dollars and cents
Events will be a normal ride of approximately a hundred miles.
The goal is to discover the least amount of energy - in dollars and cents - it takes to travel the way we really drive. Some Challenges will be at 65 mph through the midwestern countryside. Other Challenges may be held in mountainous areas between Las Vegas and Barstow. California's Highway 101, El Camino Real is my favorite and most challenging because the posted speed is 70 mph and the headwinds can be 30 mph plus.
"Vetter Conditions" represent reality; never "controlled" conditions like on tracks.
