but what is that function is question, there is f*ck all info on the spark ev transmission out there, and other specs seem shady as well. Saw mention of the motor being %85 efficient in the city and %90 on the hiway, ok, so how efficient is that big lump of stuff downstream from the motor?

I see from the first link there is one simple planetary gearset between the motor and the differential.

Quote:
A typical efficiency loss in a planetary gearbox arrangement is only 3% per stage. This type of efficiency ensures that a high proportion of the energy being input is transmitted through the gearbox, rather than being wasted on mechanical losses inside the gearbox.
Epicyclic gearing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So 3%? Then add in some bearing and CV joints for, oh, 5%?

The Spark EV also features a Pedestrian Friendly Alert Function (PFAF) to alert those nearby of the vehicle’s presence. To activate a friendly horn, pull the turn signal lever toward you like you are flashing the headlights

cant wait till we get one in the shop

I wanted the PFAF to make a loud beer & beans flatulence sound, but they didn't go for it (wink,wink)...darn!
