220-mph Volkswagen Passat @ Bonneville, 2015
Hadn't seen this before.
Scroll down to peruse the time slip. You'll notice that track meteorological data is documented for the run. Density altitude is of particular interest.
Also, some of the distance-to-velocity relationships required to accelerate to a specific velocity for the given power of the car.

This is a 'stock car' category. If it didn't come with skirts, you can't add them.
If you look at the 'STREAMLINER' class, you see that ALL OF THEM have skirts.
FRONT and REAR!.

Yes, wipers can go.
Mirrors.
Lowering ( the VW doesn't actually have half-skirts up front ).
Narrow racing tires.
MOON Equipment Co. dzus-on wheel covers.
Sometimes the rear Bonneville spoiler ( safety ).
Airdam extension ( safety ).
Drogue parachute at 175-mph.
Frontal area cannot be reduced beyond some rulebook threshold amount.
Southern California Timing Association writes the rules for all classes and conducts the safety inspections.

id be curious to take my ioniq to bonneville after all of my mods are done since i dont have to follow any rules. but apparently the ioniq has a top speed limiter inside it according to the folks at the ioniq forum. i guess for safety or something? so regardless of my drag decreasing, my top speed will always be the same

yep, unless there was a work around for that.
If the car goes faster they must put 'more' brakes' on it.
Everything structural that stresses must be beefed up, causing a weight gain, which the brakes have got to be able to stop.
At some point the speed rating for the tires is exceeded, requiring more expensive rubber.
Lift, which was never an issue becomes an issue.
It just kinda runs away with itself.

but why? and i wonder how the wheel wells sound with all that salt being kicked up into the wheel wells with the skirts. any time i go on a dirt or gravel road its a nightmare with the rear wheel skirts
i probably wont even be able to keep them on the car in winter with snow driving!
