I thought you were talking about in the mornings before I leave. Pre-heating the car or something. What you're saying makes sense. The car's old and I don't want to put too much stress on the starter cause I can't really afford to replace it. Is it possible to bump an auto? Turn the key on in neutral then go down to third or second to start it?

At what speed does engine on coasting stop giving mpg greater than 20? I'm timing how long I accelerate from lights and how long I coast for to counteract it. I've been stopping my coast down time at 20 mph.

Do you have any idea about the idle fuel consumption - might be in the car's manual, if you have that ?

You got greater than 20mpg on my 98 Buick lesabre at about 12mph. Also the buicks tend to coast just fine in gear my fuel consumption was not noticeably different in gear than out.

Ok awesome. I realized most of the time I accelerate to 50 in about 9-10 seconds and coast to 20mph in around 30 seconds. I'm trying to double acceleration time with coasting at every stop.
