Seems pretty decent, maybe a step above Wilderness Energy. Nowadays, any supplier not on back order is a good supplier!

The big question is can the controller handle 48V?

Seems ok. The price is high for a 36V 500w motor. Mine cost $390 shipped, & thats for a 48V 1000W.

thanks for the reply - looking into it now. On a related note, how is your set-up performing ? Any tips or suggestions on someone who will try and do something similar ? Is the 48v 1000w set up all it's cracked up to be or is it much like a 36v set-up ?

Planning on doing one on a "Kickbike" like

Welcome to Kickbike America

but it needs to go 15 miles on one charge and do between 20mph and 25mph - wondering if this is realistic ?

The bike is working flawlessly. As I type this (I'm at work) I have gone a total of 710mi on the e-bike. I have 84 10Ah NIMH batts. running in the bike so its a 50.4V 20AH system. I've never used a 36V system so I can't compare. The bike will go ~28mph on full throttle, but I don't use full throttle very offen. If I did the bike would not go as far. I average ~20mph. It goes ~30miles on a single charge. I peddle very little mostly up hills again if I didn't the bike would not go as far. I've just looked at the kickbike & I dont think that an e-bike system would work on that. Where will the 50lbs of batts go? How would you assist the bike going up hills? Also I think it would be very unstable.

thank you for the prompt reply - 30 miles per charge is impressive !
Also, I am in agreement with you that finding a place for the batteries on a scooter is a big hurdle to overcome and the inability to assist (at least - assist efficiently) will be nearly impossible without conventional pedals - yet it's ligter weight and the "similar yet different" factor keeps it lurking in the back of my mind.

I like the lighter weight too, but. BTW if you do e-bike or the kickbike make sure its steel or a metal that "bends" It would suck to be biking down the road next thing you know your kissing pavement cause the carbon fiber broke. Steel bends before it breakes. Also my bike weighs ~110lbs!
