360 and m8100n

So I thought it'd work, but it really didn't. So Now Im confused and am looking to computer dudes to help me out

I've got an HP Pavilion m8100n TV PC, and It's got composite video hookups on the front. They're inputs, so I thought I could hook up my Xbox 360 to it and play using the computer monitor since it's nicer than what I normally use. The monitor is a 19inch LCD wide screen monitor, and I'm currently running a screen resolution at 1440X900 at a refresh rate of 75hz.

I hooked up the yellow, red, and white cables to the correct places, turned on the 360, and then the computer. Well the problem is I can't find anything on how to trouble shoot it, or what they're actually used for in general.

The PC is supposed to be able to hook up a cable or satellite box so you can record, pause, and rewind, live TV onto your computer, and the computer comes with a dandy remote to control Windows Media Center from your couch.

Well if it can do that I figured it could play vcr/dvd's/and video game consoles though the composite video inputs too. Well That's the part I'm having trouble with. The help box isn't... well helping. It doesn't have anything on using these inputs, and I have yet to find it in the getting started manual. So I figured someone else knows how to do this stuff.

Any help is great, and thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with the m8100n at all, but what it sounds like is that it has a tv tuner card built into it. Do you have xp media center or the equivilent version of vista? If so there should be a neat little media center button somewhere. Either in the quick start bar next to the start button or somewhere in the start or programs menus. If you just have a normal version of windows (which would be weird if the computer came with the tuner card) there should be some other utility that's used to access the content on the tuner card. Once you get either of these up, you'll have to look around for either a source search or source switch button. It might "just work", but I wouldn't bet on it.

It might also be easier to just plug the xbox into the monitor if it is a multimedia type, but I wouldn't bet on that either.

It's vista home premium. It's the Vista version of WMC, there's a circular media center/windows button, but it just takes me to the main selection screen. I would try and do just straight HDMI, but I have the old 360 without HDMI. The one they used to paint stuff deep silver and put chrome on the hard drive. so that's not an option. I'll do some more experimenting and see what's up. it's got a tv tuner car for sure. I don't know why a TV PC wouldn't have one.

the 360 doesn't have a DVI or VGA, otherwise it'd be a snap cause the monitor has those.
