39.56 MPG Aveo!
So I know I'm still not up to the Gold Standard here for a subcompact car, BUT, this was my first tank I was really proud of.
I drove 388.1 miles from central OH to Detroit MI, plus the days it was too cold/windy/I was too lazy to ride my bike into school for the last few weeks. I made 39.56 mpg.
I was fortunate driving North, as we had a strong (and very rare) southern tailwind to carry me along. Just over 2/3 [ESTIMATE] of the tank was freeway driving. I never went over 55 (except a few times when I caught myself doing 60).
I've started to utilize the engine off coast, which I LOVE! My previous tanks had a lot of coasting in neutral with the engine still burning. While I'm still a bit new at this tactic, I'm not quite comfortable with Pulse and Glide on the freeway, but we'll see.
As a side note, people just south of Detroit drive like a crazy when you go 55 in a 70. I was cutoff 3 times and almost ran off the road at one lane deletion. Other than that, I'm pretty pleased with myself

Congrats and good job. The mileage will only get better as the temperature increases.

Good job, the aveo isn't exactly a mileage machine so I still think that's a pretty good job

That is really good MPG.. good job!
Sorry to hijack your thread a bit, I am from Singapore, am only able to get 31 mpg in 90% city driving conditions. I have tried to turn off the aircon, turn off the engine during traffic lights, shift at 2k rpm, neutral on-engine coasting, slow driving, top speed never exceeding 95km/hr (thats 2.5k rpm on the aveo 5 1.4L) as much as I can. EOC and P&G is difficult for me as I am always in heavy traffic and city conditions.
Petrol used: RON 95, Tire pressure: Front (240KPa), Back (230KPa)
Is there anything else I can do to improve my mileage?
Is the 2009 aveo design with the side and large front grills killing my aerodynamics ? Any feedback is welcome.. Thanks..

Welcome to the site windchoco. Feel free to start your own introduction thread. We'd be all to happy to help you get your mileage up.
The main key to city driving is to use your brakes as little as possible. If you can do just that, you'll see pretty big gains. I'd also increase tire pressure.

Hijack away! Even though it's hard most times, my biggest gains have come since I've started EOC. My gf lives in Detroit, so I've seen some heavy city traffic/angry drivers when you're going too slow.
Even just a little bit can help.

It feels great to get a good tank in. Your mpg should keep going up with the warmer temps.
