Thumbs up 39mpg!!!!

Got 39MPG recently in my 1989 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder automatic w/ 154k. This was on a 260mile trip with zero stops at 65mph straight. Also had a passenger and 100lbs of lugage in the trunk. I bet I could have managed low 40's without the passenger and If I drove at 55-60mph...

Given that this was my first "long trip" this is also by FAR my best gas mileage. My previous best was about 29MPG... Shattered my previous record by a LOOOONG shot!

Coolio. You know that you have even more MPG waiting without the passenger, and also the satisfaction of great MPG as a "commuter", so to speak.

Thats great!

I hope maybe on my trip to Las Cruces (about a 4000' drop in elevation) that I can break 40 MPGs. We'll see though.

I got 37 recently. Then the trip back from Cruces is a steady grade the whole damned way back. Grrrrr

Great job!

When I have to drive long distances, I drive until I'm almost empty. I usually buy the biggest coffee on the fill up, just sip it when I get tired.

My longest drive that I have to make is my house to Louisville, KY. 5 1/2 - 6 hrs. Summer driving. Got 37 in my Miata, 41-42 in my del Sol, & 40 in a Dodge Shelby Charger. Can't wait to see what I get when I take my VX this summer.

I love to drive!
Dave
