Reminds me of a neighbor, back when I was a kid, who built a 4WD Chevy Nova.

I think the synergy drive was modeled off a moped that needs to be rolling at 12 mph befor the engine starts, not awd or 4wd.

The Highlander Hybrid can come with AWD, if you want the swap to remain a hybrid. It would more than double the power at 270HP, but the front end of the Prius would probably have to be modified to look like a beluga whale to fit the V6. Should make it quite the rocket compared to stock. It would be interesting to see what mileage it would get.
