I had a 1999 Pathfinder with the 3.3L and no matter how hard I worked at hypermiling - that truck just DEVOURED gas. Well maintained, good tires, kept it under 100 km/h (60mph) - just no making it efficient - no idea why. Maybe it had a bad aero signature/coefficient.

Best tank I ever got was 452 km on 75 Litres. (280 miles on 19.8 gallons - 14 mpg).

With my new Ecoboost, engine still breaking in and I am already making 20mpg around town and 24-28 highway !!)

I get 25 mpg highway with an 86 Nissan 4x4 4 banger....19-20 mpg on trails.

Apparently the V6s (3.0L) during these years were lucky to see 17 mpg?

Holy damn. I can't imagine what's so wrong with that pathfinder. That's worse mileage than my truck, and my aero is so bad my roommate swears his Saturn gets better mileage behind me than he does behind a semi.
