55.1 indicated today

Drove the wife to a Drs appt in Norfolk across the dreaded HRBT. Got stopped at the entrance to the tunnel for a couple of minutes. I had just hit 55.1 indicated MPG with ambient temps at 47 degrees. Left there and came back through Hampton and picked up our tax forms. Then we went to lunch on Jefferson Ave. By the time I got home I was down to 49 MPG. Not bad considering the over 30 traffic lights each way on the trip. I finally heard the cooling fan running after shutting off the engine at an intersection where an ambulance made the light stay red for almost two minutes.
About the same mileage as last summer with the lower grille now completely blocked.

regards
Mech

It'd be very impressive in the Ranger!

+1 on the Ranger. Yeah, the HRBT can be a *****, but its less deers and traffic than taking 460, 58 264 to 64.

Yep the Fiesta, it's got over 25k miles now. With the grille block this spring-summer should be interesting. It will be 4 years old in November. I might rotate the tires again.

I rotate the tires every 5 thousand miles. I had a ford mid size sedan with a wing and plus size wheels. Think it was a focus? It took a bit but it wasnt hard to get 70+ mpg a tank, mainly p&ging it.
