I don't need to go to Germany since I can't get a ticket in France at full throttle in 5th gear.

Your car high speed is down to 130 km/h / 83 mph when it was 150ish in standard trim ???

Does that means aero improvement did not make up for the gear swap ?

I exaggerated a little bit but top speed is around 140 km/h. I got 143 km/h top with the new 5th gear as only mod, 158 km/h is the official top (not sure though I could have reached it, the engine being not really new anymore). So with the bigger tires but several aeromods I must be around that.

The overall gearing is 20% bigger and aero improvement is probably not higher than 7% (roughly guesstimated).

I'm fine with 140 km/h top speed. That enables me to do 130 if I want with a margin for headwind or light inclines.

But hey, I'm doing 160 km/h in 4th.

As it should be. 5th gear should be for driving down the highway with a 5 speed manual, not any of this 'put a final drive out of a sports car into an economy car' stuff that seems to be the norm over here at least. I am a bit bitter about how I may have a 4.3 final drive (matches up with my RPMs at most speeds) when the car can move 1400 kg up a 5% grade in top gear and it has enough power to handle a 3.53 final drive in 5th gear on most freeways.

You're allowed to do 140km/h in France? :O

Highest speed limits here are 75 I think. Not that I'd want to go that fast, my gearing is too short.

No, 130 km/h is the maximum. I've been at that speed just for that test. Else, I'm driving 80/90 km/h along with trucks on 110 km/h highways.

In France we have the 130 km/h / 83 mph limit on the highway but like everybody else we happen to do a little speeding / breaking the law once in a while.

German highways (autobahn) have some portion without any speed limit
