Any opinions on transmission? My truck currently has 3.77 rear gears, should I sink money into rebuilding the Benz automatic or buying an Shapiro adapter and putting a 700r4 on it?

I'd go with the 700R4 over the MB auto.

Well, I got a cheaper deal on the mb auto for now. Will probably pull the benz diesel out of the car this weekend. I also need to work on my garage since it's finally not raining! I will be sure to get photos!

Hmmm.... just remembered, my 300SD parts car has only 126,000 miles compared to the other two driving cars with 160k and 380k miles on them. Now I just need to find a fun car or small truck to put them into! I bought a '97 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4 for the Perkins 4.236 4 cylinder diesel. Still wondering what trans for that one. Thinking ZF-5 Ford.

Well, a month later, I've made some progress. Pulled the original inline 6 gas engine. Pulled the whole front body clip. Gotta clean and paint the frame, need to pull the engine out of the mercedes and clean it up.

What about an NV4500 or an Eaton FSO 4505 D?
