99 Mazda B3000

I got this little truck used back in late November 2011
3lt V6, 2wd, 4sp Auto, AC, regular cab, 6ft box, 240,000km.
It's in decent shape for what it is and runs and drives really good.
My gas mileage varies from about
14.5 L/100km, 19mpg (imp gal) worst
11 L/100km, 26mpg (imp gal) best
I have not run this in the summer on nice hot days.

One thing that I notice is that the engine cooling fan is always roaring. Doesn't matter what the outside temperature is or whether the engine is cold, warm or hot it always seems to be pulling a lot of air.
1500rpm it's roaring. Truck has a clutch type fan.

Question has anybody had any experience in replacing the mechanical clutch fan with an electric one?

Reason I ask is the water pump has developed a small leak out the seal, when I go to fix it I can do something about the fan.
