Accidental warm air intake

I went to change the air filter and saw a gaping rip in the hose... After the filter. (2012 Sonic) Oops. I wonder how long it's been like that and how bad the damage was.

It's now patched with duct tape until the replacement arrives. Apparently this was a common thing for the first couple years of Sonic production.

On the bright side, this is good motivation for my girlfriend to swap for a leaf or a volt. She doesn't like the answer, "it's probably fine unless it caused irreversible damage. And there's no way to know."

Do a compressio an check. Dirt, dust attack piston rings.

Careful, be happy with a GF that doesn't need a new Bimmer every other year. So be careful what behaviors you encourage.

My partner is happy with any auto car she feels safe in. £200 upwards. Hates bmw's mercs lambos ferreias etc etc. Lucky me :-). She loved her subaru 3.0 outback now with blown engine after step son wrecked it. Put cold water into hot engine. Head gasket gone and head or block warped. New engine required and i have to pick up bill for it. :-( he has no mechical sympthy for cars. Checks for oil water screen wash tyres etc do not apply to him !!!!!
