Tango Charlie:
No worries. I WILL be painting it on Memorial Day Weekend, pending good weather at my bro's house. He rattle-cans all kinds of stuff with good results, so I'll take his supervision.
Railectomy should go fast for you. Are you thinking of using anything to plug the gaps near the tailgate?

I'm indifferent between body color and black. Body color would definitely give it a custom look, and give me more attention to strike up a hypermiling/ecomodding conversation.
BUT if I have trouble finding the duplicolor, I think a matte black would still look interesting. Dang, I'm going to have to flip a coin.

BTW, I found the color code for my Vibe...I never knew exactly what shade of blue it is. I'm the proud owner of a "Stealth" Vibe. Color code 46U WA928L.

Looks cool. Kind of a vestigial roof-fin.

If you could find the duplicolor for the wheel arch trim and paint them that color, that would look pretty good too.

It's been a long 2 weeks: helped my brother move and hung around Joplin for tornado cleanup. Luckily my family and friends are all OK.

Yes, got the roof caps "adjusted" with a dremel for proper fitment, drilled holes, spray painted the caps, and put 'em on. They actually needed quite a bit of modification to fit properly. Still, a few hours with my brother's dremel is much cheaper than the $400 auto body shop estimate.

Been meaning to replace that broken wheel cover.

Those bolts stick out like a sore thumb. I'll either paint them black, or look for something less obnoxious.

My spray painting abilities suck, but still $7 vs $400. I could get another rattle-can and go at it again sometime.

Nice!
See, you not only saved money, but you developed at least two skills (Dremel Tool Operation and Rattle Can Application, ha ha ha!), AND you have that personal satisfaction of DIY.
It looks good, Polo! Well done!

I wish that removing the roof rack on my Forester were anything near this easy--I need to remove my headliner!

Great job!
