Adding factory mileage gauge to my Sonata

When I bought my '09 Sonata new, there was an option that consisted of a mileage computer and I think, power seats.

Don't miss the power seats a bit, but, it would be nice to turn on the mileage computer. I say "turn on" because I am fairly sure that all the hardware already exists and it is a matter of modifying the computer gadgetry. I saw this feature on a car at the dealer. All the mpg info lived in the same display as the odometer.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it possible to go to a Hyundai dealer and have them turn this feature on? I could just go out and buy a scangauge, but, I like the idea of having something already built in.

My Mazda 5 is the same way. There is a mileage computer on the dash on the more optioned models, but not on ours. If I could get it "turned on" for a few bucks, I would. But, if it costs a lot, I will skip it. My wife probably won't use it much...

Simplest way to find out is to ask a local dealership. Next simplest is to get a copy of the factory Service Manual and do some reading. Least simplest is to begin "cutting & kludging."

I'll pass on cutting and kludging. I will check with the local dealer and maybe a hyundai forum.
