Without a wind tunnel I'm looking around for other examples of 'cleaner 'cars with this peculiar rear end.
Even though there is an open cavity,the rear is positioned perfectly for flow re-attachment,and the body sides force the geometry of the captured-vortex over the cavity,creating the 'phantom' body Kamm,Korff,Morelli,and others have spoken of.
It's not perfect,but at Cd 0.29 for 46% of boat-tail it is encouraging.
PS, I learned that it was actually Frank Costin who did the lion's share of design on the Europa.
