Aero Car Ideas

From a place and a crowd where aero really matters – Bonneville.

Maybe there is a nugget of inspiration in there for somebody.

Big Dave -

Great stuff. I looked at the next two images and found inspiration for the Mustang owners on this forum :

Not a lot of overtaking traffic to be concerned with.

But it still begs the question, "What works?" What car worked because of its mods, and what car worked in spite of them? Did the massive air dam speed it up, or just keep it from becoming airborne? Nothing I have done to date seems to have done anything detectable. (color me frustrated.)

I like the "belly tank" cars those would be great with my little metro motor stuffed in there, or a TDI drivetrain. Would love to have on of those tanks fall in my yard one day, ohh the possibilities.

The MG B was "styled" by chopping off the ends of MG's old Bonneville special. They go back on quite gracefully.
This reminds me of American Colonial architecture, which was a copy, in wood, of the marble used in classical greek work. That, in turn, was a copy in stone, of the previous indigenous wooden architecture, when they still had trees. The frescoes of the Parthenon include simulated heads of wooden pegs "holding" the parts together. With thanks to J.E. Gordon.

well since they (almost) all have some things in common
mirror deletes and smooth wheel covers(or skirts) and grill blocks or smooth light covers
those things are probably reasonable successful

there are some very different applications in these cars as well
open wheels - recessed wheels - flush wheels -skirted wheels
there it obviously multiple "right" answers depending on your application

stay calm and work your mods one at a time and you will get there
and the first mod is always driving behavior
