I don't want or need lights on it. That's what the aerodynamic multi vehicle light bar is for.
Thick steel tube so I can be used to tie stuff on to not
bend or crush it, so when I take it off and throw it on the ground it doesn't get a dent in it or get bent.
Most headache rack I see will allow a loose lawn mower to crush the bed against the cab or allow a chunk of firewood to go straight through the back window.

How does "stand" apply here?

Stand off? The distance between the top of the cab and the top of the bar. I need some standoff so I can ratchet strap propane tanks or welding gas bottles to it and so fire wood doesn't push the mesh glass guard into the glass, breaking it, defeating the purpose.

I don't see anything perplexing about your ask.

Attach to the sides of the bed not down in the bed, for maximum carrying room.

Do you have stake pockets or hold-down hooks to take advantage of? Dimension from the top of the window to the bed floor? Heavy perf metal with light frame?

I've kind of lost interest here as I see few aero aspects in consideration or needed.
Carry on.

No interest then, in the idea of putting a wickerbill on a truck cab (rack or no)?

No stake side pockets.
I thought wickerball aerodynamics were to help it spin?

AKA Gurney flap
Quote:
https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Gurney_flap
Gurney flap - Wikipedia
Gurney flap A Gurney flap shown on the underside of a Newman airfoil (from NASA Technical Memorandum 4071). The Gurney flap (or wickerbill) is a small tab projecting from the trailing edge of a wing. Typically it is set at a right angle to the pressure-side surface of the airfoil [1] and projects 1% to 2% of the wing chord. [2]
