Acciona, a Spanish technology company on renewable energy, uses their unique Dakar entry as their technology demonstrator. Their third time entry, they have challenged the entire grueling 5,600 mile length of the 2017 Paraguay-Bolivia-Argentina rally. The Acciona rally car has a 340-horsepower synchronous electric motor with a 150 kWh modular battery pack. The six lithium battery modules can be charged to get to full power in just 60 minutes. There is also a 100-watt solar panel on the roof for additional charging of the batteries. The Acciona EV is the first race vehicle to finish the Dakar without any carbon dioxide emissions.
