Tesla got the ball rollin' down the interstate, Mercedes Daimler has the E-Fuso Vision 1 and Cummins has their AEOS. Another startup, Thor Trucks debuts their ET-One semi-tractor. Uses a Navistar chassis, heavy duty Dana axles and uses TM4 Sumo HD direct-drive electric powertrain. A vision of two young California engineers/entrepreneurs, Dakota Semler and Giordano Sordoni. Thor has a tiny 18-employee team. But what the truck company lacks in manpower it makes up for with experience. Its engineers and vehicle designers are industry veterans. On a test drive, the truck drove around suburban Los Angeles; estimated 4,700 pound-feet of torque, the one-speed transmission simplifies the driving process. The truck has hauled 60,000 pounds and will be tested at the Class 8 load limit of 80,000 pounds. They have pricing at $150,000 for the 100-mile version and $250,000 for the 300-mile version. Caveat, somewhat iffy family connections.
