Another reason grille blocks are good

Just replaced my radiator due to the fact that road debris had taken it's toll over 280K km and the rad fins were trashed to the point they couldn't cool the car on a hot day in heavy city traffic. Narrow 4 lane highway with sandy gravel shoulders and lots of semi truck traffic on my commute has also sand blasted the rest of the car. Had quite a few kamikaze grass hoppers almost completely through the rad fins. Had I kept my grille block installed during this summer I'm sure this wouldn't be the case. It's going back on this week to protect the new one.

I don't drive that fast. What do rads look like on cars that are always speeding?

If you're speeding, the stones go over the radiator and leave nice dings in the hood.
