Any mods possible to make an '04-'06 GTO more efficient?

I really love the way those cars look but with fuel prices on the rise again I'm not sure I want to pay so much at the pump. If I got one does anyone know of a way to get a diesel engine to fit or maybe run it on ethanol? Any ideas?

save money on the engine swap and use it for gas. i understand wanting better mileage but coughing up a bunch of money for an engine swap into that wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. i would go with aero mods, maybe a warm air intake, and i'm sure they have an aftermarket rear-end with taller gears

I guess you're right but there are some Chevy diesels that could probably be dropped in place of a small block for pretty cheap. Another question, how do you get that fuel economy badge in your signature?

Read the aerodynamics forum. The GTO has room for improvement.

Swap in the 2.73 R&P set out of an automatic C6 Corvette.

bumping from the 3.46 rear end to a 2.73 would be a big improvement. the 6L has plenty of torque as does the 5.7L

an underdrive pulley system will help fuel economy, as will getting a ecu tuner to remap the fuel and ignition curves.
