So... crd, I assume that is the mercedes diesel?

Oh duh, now I see your username. You might look into diesel engine mods, mainly water injection.

I put flat wheel covers, a duct tape grill block, removed luggage rack, enlarged air dam, scangage, and v.g.'s on my 06 escape (v6 with automatic) and I'm happy with the results. I'm getting better than 4 cylinder mileage and getting close to hybrid mileage at times. My wife and daughter usually drive it so I know the mileage could be better but it is still better than factory.

I made grill blocks out of cardboard covered in black duct tape. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The air box picks up air right behind the grill, so I left that slot in the grill open and I covered the oother six slots. I also removed an unused front license plate frame. I will be ordering an ultra-gauge this week.

I got a 95 sidekick ljx. Its got a 1.6l engine and gets around 30mpg tops. What you are getting for what you got isnt that bad at all.

I'm pretty happy with my FE, but this is just a fun game to me. I'm hoping I can hit 28 this next tank with the grill blocks. Then maybe the ultra-gauge will help me squeeze a bit more out. We'll see!

Its pretty straight forward, although the biggest results come from adjusting the nut behind the steering wheel. Blocking the outside of the grill openings, removing stuff so air flows smoother around the car, increasing tire psi, lowering vehicle to pass through the air better, air dams to close gap between car and road, covering under side to reduce drag. Take a look at the rear of your car to see if the rear is like a parachute for catching air. Also if you make short v slong trips you may see a increase in forgoing the cold air intake and sucking in warm air from under the hood. Ive seen mixed results depending on vehicle, but for the most part short trips vehicles improve with warm air, longer trips vehicles mpg improves with cooler air.

Me, I like to use water wetter and a full grill block in the summer.

So any results from the OP's Jimmy? After making the Grill blockers? I also have a 2000 Jimmy and was eager to here the results. I am using the Torque app and a OBDii bluetooth adapter to see my real time mpgs and average mpgs. I am getting around 24 MPG's on the highway and around 16 in the city. My wife and I are about to have our first child, so The Jimmy is going to be the family car for trips and whatnot. I am trying to get best possible MPG's in the family car.
