A push from air ??

Well the other day on my way to work I was cruising @65mph in the right lane when a trucker wanted to have some fun with me. He pulled up so close behind me that I could safely count the bugs in the grille.

Funny thing though, without any further acceleration I began to speed up, so I let off the gas to maintain my speed, but was the wall of air he was pushing, actually pushing me?

Curious ..

Safely? Easily maybe, but I wouldn't say safely. It was extremely dangerous of him to do this! The proper response is emptying your change tray through the sunroof. If you don't have change or a sunroof, periodically turning on the washer nozzles works wonders.

I wouldn't experiment along these lines any more

But watch what happens when one of them passes you, it's a similar effect.

He was filling your low pressure wake, and you were taking some of his nose pressure off. That's why 2 vehicles travelling together have less drag than the sum of each travelling individually.
