To belly pan or not?
My question could refer to many types of motorcycles generally speaking, but I am asking about a Honda Grom to be specific. Obviously, this is probably a great aerodynamic Aid to a race bike oh, and it sure looks cool, but on a low speed bike that would seldom ever go over 35 or 40 be worth the $150 to buy such? It does look great cosmetically, but if it did actually help by what percentage would you think it would, as it is not exactly a huge surface for 35 or 40 miles an hour? Would the weight penalty negate any possible gains or you think it would just break even? Quality-wise, I guess I would probably prefer a fiberglass version over a plastic one for longevity or possibly later repairs. Should I try to make it out of chloroplast? I would want the Finish to have a pleasant appearance and not look too homemade. The ultimate goal of course is to have something that looks nice, and can get 150 plus miles per gallon.

Do motorcycles ever need a bellypan?

I have already seen some motorcycles with a belly pan, either shaped like the lower end of a full fairing for street/racing motorcycles or like a sumpguard for off-road ones. Maybe it's more challenging to make one suitable to a Honda Grom due to its horizontal cylinder...

There are several brands are ready to go out there but I'm just not sure how much they weigh versus just what the cost is Justified for being more cosmetically pleasing.

More weight that close to the ground should be an advantage?

Well thank you both for a positive response. I think I would like to do one eventually probably just not immediate. My immediate problem is just figuring out the trailer Chock

I'd be more concerned about its influence to the engine cooling.

Hopefully it would be vented with holes in the right place

A proper venting may be useful to prevent any overheating to also become discomfortable for summer rides.
