The best engine degreaser

I found some components to check on the Accord that I allegedly don't own anymore. I kept watching that horrible mechanic's video and just felt depressed by how much fresh oil was on the bottom of the engine, which I had repeatedly cleaned.

It seems that for every kind of surface you want to clean, there is supposedly some magic cleaner you just spray and wipe off.

None of those have ever worked for me.

I used oven cleaner on Mom's old oven and it just seemed to stink, but boy did it do that well!

I wondered if there was a significantly better degreaser than I have used and found this video, which I am sharing because the way he tested reminded me of Project Farm, he just didn't show the testing, he summarized it:

For him, the best engine degreaser was: Discontinued!

The third comment is "Motor Medic doesn’t sell that degreaser anymore. It’s a rebadged can of Gunk original. It was cheap because there’re just getting rid of inventory. Anyways I looked up the MSDS on the Gunk original and it’s pretty much 90% Diesel and 10% Kerosene."

Repair Geek said that it worked just as well as Gunk original, it was just cheaper, and we know why!

In Eric the Car Guy's 2002 Civic head gasket replacement video he showed using a big can of brake cleaner, which I realized was pump-powered, not aerosol.

I wonder about getting an empty can like that and mixing 90% Diesel and 10% Kerosene.

Oven cleaner is good.
Woodash and water works surprisingly well too, but can be messy.

Use as much as you need because chances are if you have a source, it won't run out.

This is the sprayer Eric linked: Performance Tool M715 Eco-Friendly Non-Aerosol Reusable Liquid Sprayer. It is $40 on Amazon and I was wrong, you don't pump it, you connect it to your compressor, which sounds nice.

AutoZone has a similar one for $50.
