If Neil's economics are working in his favor buying a car that costs thousands of dollars you can bet buying one that costs hundreds will work for you.

Btw Neil, are you the first new Fiesta on here? How do you like it? How does it respond to hypermiling?

I don't know if I'm the first, if I recall corrctly on of the Fiesta Forums members led me here. Hypermilling seems to work well. The autotrans is actually a manual trans with 2 clutches controlled by a computer. The computer will adapt to your driving. I just slip it in neutral and watch the tank fill up ;+).

It is waaay fun to drive and corners real flat. Ride is firm but not stiff. Yeah at 70-75 it may have an issue passing quickly but in 99% of my driving she gets and goes great. I have LOADS of fun on my TN 2 lane backroad commute to work. Granted I canspeed too much but, I don't slow down for the corners.

I went from a 96 Dodge 1500 with 210,000 automatic that was getting at best 15mpg. I went and got a manual 94 corolla at 50+ mpg best thing I did. it cut my fuel cost in half.

I'd go even further than the "buy a used beater" suggestions, and say sell the Tundra while you can still find someone who'll buy it. That'll pay for your beater, and maybe leave you some cash in hand tool.
