beware: Microlon on the scene

First, the Microlon cleaning complex clears the engine of the carbon, varnish, and sludge that can accumulate through normal use.

I'm out.

I've owned cars where carbon, varnish and sludge were the only things holding the motor together and keeping compression.

Never mind, after reading a little further I came to this.

There have been a couple of cases where we have recommended that an engine not be treated, and those cases dealt with very old engines that were essentially held together by the gunk that Microlon will remove.

I once bought a rust bucket beater. The engine had so much sludge that the valve springs were barely visible. It burned a quart of oil every 90 miles, but had good compression, ran well, and got good gas mileage.

I changed oil, and the new oil got black immediately. Just for grins and giggles, I changed the oil every time it was down the second quart. Each oil change was a little farther apart. Four years later, it was burning one quart every 950 miles. Clean hot oil also dissolves engine gunk.

I bought the car for $60, and sold it for $100. Four years of driving with negative depreciation.
