Bleh 2013 Volt Premium 5mph wreck

Have it up for sale, still waiting on a repair quote, have a feeling it’s going to the car lot in the sky (liability)

Liked the car and only 120k miles still in shock that I got into my first accident.

Ah well opportunity to get another beater car to fill in

City won’t allow it parked “at home” will see how much the repair place hits me with, amazing how a car with a $3500 “value” 3 years ago can sell for more now as scrap.

Well current price on the battery exceeds the quote, all the power electronics worth ditto. I understood that firing off the airbags generally scraps a car, but have no verifiable data there.

Airbags are intact but the trans cooler and possibly a radiator or two are destroyed

I don't consider the necessity to purchase a new vehicle in current market conditions to be "an opportunity". If the only damage are the radiators, might be worth it to just get'er back on the road.

Did the airbags deploy? Hard to tell due to reflections on the glass.

Airbags intact, likely $7k to fix, can sell as junk for $5k

Can’t park on my property legally so it needs to be fixed somewhere

I never understood not being able to have a thing you own on the property you own. I'm in a HOA, and even they would allow a non-running vehicle to park on the street.

So, did it damage more than the radiators? $7k would indicate the engine is toast.

Is insurance covering it? I've always dropped comp/collision the moment the loan is paid off, so all at-fault damage is always on my dime. So far I've only had other knuckleheads giving me a love-tap.

The radiators in these 1st gen volts are crazy expensive and that's just the part, let alone the labor, coolant, refreshing the computer due to latching codes... $$$

Recall the landlord incident in another post. If rmay635703 owned his house I suspect a lot of this would be moot.
