I'm extememly impressed with the tight bent curves at the back of the boat-tail. How was that done without simply breaking the foam? I've never been able to bend foam at all. That was just foil-faced 1/2 white bead "styrofoam", right?

I'm looking at possibly adding a boat tail and am exploring materials options. I like your use of conduit.
It's all made from 1/2" foil faced foam from Lowes.

It is easy to bend a tight radius. Larger pieces however require more hands.

If you need thicker material. You can add layers using adhesive spray.

You can also join pieces edge to edge by using adhesive spray and aluminum roof flashing to over lap the edges. This method will allow one to make large panels and or complicated shapes. When I made the front bumper cover and belly pan, this is the method I used as it is easier to make tricky pieces this way.

The foam becomes very ridged and strong when bent into a convex shape and a 4x8 sheet only weighs 1.1 lbs.

1/2" EMT only weighs 2.2 lbs. per. 10' stick and is easy to bend with or without a bender.

If you're thinking of using this application for your Vectrix project, I believe it will work just fine.

You could stretch it over a form, aluminum side down, and then spray-glue another skin to the raw side and have a custom formed composite panel.
